Notice of the passing of Paul Hansen, Treasurer and Board memberA message from Ana Terrazas, General Manager, The Wetlands Centre Cockburn.

3 January 2026

To The Wetlands Centre community,

As 2025 drew to a close, we were saddened to learn of the death of our colleague and friend, Paul Hansen, our Treasurer and Board member, on 25 December 2025.

Paul’s passing will be felt deeply across our organisation and the Cockburn community. He brought steady judgement, quiet generosity, and unwavering integrity to every conversation and counsel, always guided by what would best serve the Centre and its mission.

A retired senior public servant and community stalwart, Paul had a strong commitment to good governance and compliance. As Treasurer, he was a trusted steward of the Centre’s finances, with a clear focus on financial health and sustainable funding so the organisation could plan confidently for the long term.

Beyond the Centre, Paul was known as a dedicated community member who gave his time and energy to local issues over many years. He worked closely with others through the Bibra Lake Residents Association, and was widely respected for his commitment to the people and places he cared about.

On behalf of the Board, staff and volunteers, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Paul’s family, friends, and all who had the good fortune to work alongside him.

A funeral memorial to celebrate Paul’s life will be held on Thursday 8 January 2026, 10.00 am – 12.00 pm, at Norfolk Chapel, Karrakatta Cemetery, Railway Road, Karrakatta, Perth, WA.
