First-Ever Conference Shuttle ServiceReducing the Conference’s Carbon Footprint by Encouraging Public Transport Use

We are excited to report that our first-ever shuttle service for The Wetlands Conference was a huge success this year. This environmentally-friendly initiative was designed to increase the use of public transport and reduce carbon emissions, and we couldn’t have done it without the efforts of our dynamic driver Allen Seubert and volunteer Betty Bryant. In previous years, we have encouraged carpooling as a way to reduce the environmental impact of the conference. However, we recognized that this was not always feasible for our delegates, many of whom travel long distances to attend the event. That’s why we wanted to do better this year, and provide a shuttle service from the Murdoch Train Station for those who preferred to use public transport.

The shuttle service was available from 8:00 am on Days 1 & 2 of the Conference, and delegates were able to easily locate our volunteer Betty, who carried a sign with The Wetlands Centre logo. She was available to answer any questions and help guide attendees to the shuttle pick-up area. We are grateful for her dedication and willingness to brave the heat to ensure that everyone arrived safely and on time. Overall, we are thrilled with the success of the shuttle service and its positive impact on the environment. We plan to make this a regular feature of all our future conferences and hope that even more delegates will take advantage of this green transportation option.
